FOUNDATION DAY

Walking through the gates during our 124th Foundation Day, the legacy of Ilocos Sur National High School felt more vibrant than ever. There was a sense of pride in the air, as if every corner of the campus carried stories from generations of students who had walked the same paths before us. This photoblog captures the true essence of our celebration, from the thunderous cheers echoing from the grandstand, to the determination seen in the sweat of our athletes, and the genuine joy reflected in the smiles of students reunited under the spirit of Blue and Gold.

As the celebration unfolded, it became clear that this was more than just an anniversary. It was a gathering of memories, traditions, and shared identity. Each activity, performance, and moment of laughter highlighted the strong sense of community that binds every ISNHS student together. Whether it was the competitive energy on the field or the simple moments of camaraderie, every scene told a story of unity and pride.

One hundred and twenty-four years is a remarkable milestone, yet the energy within these walls feels constantly renewed by each new generation of learners. The school’s legacy continues to grow, not only through its history of excellence but also through the passion and dreams of the students who carry its name forward. Being part of this celebration reminded me that I am not just witnessing history, but also contributing to it in my own small way.

These images are more than just snapshots frozen in time. They are a tribute to the enduring excellence, resilience, and tradition that Ilocos Sur National High School continues to uphold. They reflect what it truly means to be an Ilocano learner, proud of where we come from and inspired to shape where we are going

 Girls Are Not JUST Girls

This March, we honor the “Juana” in every corner of our community—a symbol of every Filipina whose courage, compassion, and strength continue to shape our nation. Celebrating National Women’s Month is more than a tradition; it is a powerful reminder of the invaluable contributions women have made throughout history and continue to make today. It is a time to recognize not only achievements, but also the struggles, sacrifices, and resilience that define the journey toward equality.

From historical icons like Gabriela Silang, who stood fearless in the face of colonial oppression, to modern-day leaders, innovators, and changemakers, women have always been at the forefront of progress. Yet, beyond the pages of history books, we also celebrate the everyday heroes—the mothers who nurture with unwavering love, the teachers who ignite young minds, and the women in our communities who lead quietly but powerfully through their actions. Their influence forms the backbone of societal growth, often in ways that go unseen but are deeply felt.

Empowerment is more than just a word we hear during celebrations—it is a commitment to action. It means building environments where every girl and woman feels seen, heard, and valued. It is about ensuring that opportunities are accessible, voices are respected, and dreams are not limited by gender. True empowerment encourages young girls to step into leadership roles, to speak with confidence, and to pursue their ambitions without fear or hesitation.

As we celebrate this month, we are also called to reflect on the work that still needs to be done. Gender equality is not achieved overnight; it requires continuous effort, awareness, and solidarity from everyone in society. By supporting one another and advocating for inclusive spaces, we help create a future where every woman can thrive.

Here’s to the women who inspire us daily—to break barriers, challenge norms, and redefine possibilities. May their stories continue to uplift generations, reminding us all that strength, resilience, and leadership know no gender.

DREAMS

Dreams are just dreams?

Looking ahead, my dreams feel like a map I am still carefully drawing, one line at a time, with each experience adding depth and direction. I envision a future where my passion for discovery is not just a personal pursuit, but a force that allows me to create meaningful impact in the lives of others. For me, success is not defined by a single career milestone or title, but by the kind of person I grow into—someone who uses knowledge, empathy, and perseverance to contribute positively to society. I want to be in a place where my curiosity drives innovation, where I can ask questions that matter and seek answers that lead to real change.

IS IT A CRIME TO BE UNSURE?

There are days when the journey feels overwhelming, especially with the demanding academic challenges of the Special Science Class. The pressure to excel, the long hours of studying, and the constant need to push beyond my limits can sometimes make the path seem steep and uncertain. Yet, it is in these very moments of struggle that I find opportunities to grow stronger and more resilient. Each challenge becomes a stepping stone, shaping not only my intellect but also my character.

What keeps me grounded is the vision of who I aspire to become. I remind myself that every effort I make today—every late night, every small victory, every failure I learn from—is part of a bigger picture I am creating for my future. My dreams are not fixed endpoints; they are evolving goals that reflect my growth and understanding of the world. I believe that the future I seek is not something I simply arrive at, but something I actively build through grit, curiosity, and purpose. In the end, it is this continuous journey of learning and becoming that gives my dreams their true meaning.
